Root Canals

While many procedures focus on the outer hard shell of the tooth, root canal therapy is used to treat the soft tissue within the tooth structure. This tissue (known as pulp) can become inflamed and infected, leading to pain, sensitivity, and other uncomfortable symptoms. A root canal addresses this issue fully, allowing the tooth to remain in place. 

Reasons Root Canal Treatments are Recommended

The most common reason for a root canal treatment is infection of the tooth pulp. This can occur when bacteria is able to enter the inside of the tooth, often through a cavity, crack, or chip. Root canal treatments are designed to remove the infected tissue, clean out the root canals, and seal the tooth, preserving it. 

What to Expect During a Root Canal Procedure

Root canal procedures can be performed in our comfortable offices, where we’ll provide you with numbing for the area before the procedure begins. Our team will clean the root canals, fill them with a substance called gutta percha, and seal the tooth. We may recommend placing a dental crown over the tooth to protect the restoration and restore complete function.
